Bunter's journey started as a teenage resident at the legendary Labyrinth on Dalston Lane in the early 90s, and hasn't slowed down since. A residency at that age, at that venue, in that era, is not a footnote — it's an apprenticeship served in the middle of the thing while it was happening.
Labyrinth is one of the venues that comes up whenever the origins of UK hardcore and jungle are discussed. Having been resident there means his account of the period is first-hand rather than assembled afterwards.
The archive
Beyond the decks, Bunter is a fiercely dedicated vinyl collector and archivist — his personal record room is a genuine piece of rave history in its own right. That archive is the reason he can play a set that traces the actual progression of the music rather than a greatest-hits selection.
